The Grain Quality Project Lead is a key role at AGT, working with grain quality requirements in crops including wheat, barley, canola and lupin. The role will directly work with a team of Grain Quality Technicians as well as the Grain Quality Operations Manager. The role requires strong laboratory based organisational and administrative skills, and knowledge of grain quality with the ability to manage activities across various projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Grain Quality Operations Manager to develop and implement new and improved wheat, barley, canola, and lupin quality testing procedures.
- Lead projects to develop new grain quality testing methods as required.
- Interact with breeding and science teams to identify gaps and areas of need linked to breeding objectives.
- Contribute to Quality Assurance and continuous improvement initiatives in the laboratory.
- Ensure accurate document control and data entry.
- Assist in laboratory operations as needed.
- Perform routine and repetitive lab work.
- Intra and interstate travel will be required as part of this role.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in grain quality, food science or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in grain quality analysis.
- Experience and track record in developing and implementing new methods.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent general laboratory skills and attention to detail.
- Capability to work extended hours during busy periods.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good Microsoft Office skills.
- Understanding of breeding and the role of grain quality is an advantage.
