POSITION SUMMARY

The WHS Coordinator will be the first point of contact for information, advice, and guidance to AGT employees in relation to WHS legislation and compliance and is responsible for providing advice and innovative solutions to matters such as incident prevention, interpretation & implementation of relevant codes of practice and occupational health and safety to managers and workers.

We seek a person who is able to think “outside of the square” and develop practical and innovative methods to implement WHS requirements that that are aligned with AGT's values and will not only enhance AGT as a business but also in a way that is engaging, user friendly, and compliant with legislation, codes of practice and AGT’s WHS Management System.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work across the AGT business, at all levels, to ensure a thorough understanding of all business activities.
  • Ensure legislative and regulative compliance for WHS.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance on WHS matters.
  • Contribute and assist with companywide compliance regarding WHS strategies and framework, and processes.
  • Develop and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Identify, interpret and implement relevant codes of practice along with supporting & guiding the review of policies and procedures at sites.
  • Undertake regular site visits to conduct audits and inspections to ensure sites are meeting the requirements of WHS legislation and company policies and procedures.
  • Support reporting processes for incidents, near miss, and unsafe acts investigations which includes hazard identification and appropriate risk control measures.

  • Participate and support national WHS committee & toolbox meetings.
  • Support and oversee building systems & maintenance/asset management requirements, registers & contractor management.
  • Ensure asset and facilities across all locations meet safety management requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience from similar roles in WHS.
  • Good understanding of WHS Legislation, Standards and Codes of Practice
  • Minimum Cert IV or Diploma WHS – requirement
  • Asset and facility management experience – desirable
  • Knowledge of WHS systems and databases – Skytrust - desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at developing strong interpersonal relationships, self-motivator, and an excellent time manager.
  • Ability to think critically and innovatively to achieve desired outcomes
  • Competency in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Understanding of Agricultural and/or industrial & trade-based workplaces – Advantage
  • Current drivers’ license
