Breeders comments

Scepter has become the most widely grown wheat variety in WA, building on the success of its parent Mace.

Released in 2015, Scepter is still towards the top of the pack when it comes to yield performance across WA. However we are now seeing varieties being released that have Scepter as a parent, including the elite yielding variety Shotgun, which is viewed as an excellent Scepter replacement.

PBR and EPR

Scepter is protected by Plant Breeders Rights (PBR) and all production (except seed saved for planting) is liable to an End Point Royalty (EPR), which funds future plant breeding.

Scepter growers will be subject to a Grower License Agreement that acknowledges that an EPR of $3.25/tonne + GST must be paid on all production other than seed saved for planting.
